Consisting of a plastic container and a stainless-steel, fine-mesh strainer, this simple unit converts 3 cups of yogurt into 1 cup of thick, creamy yogurt cheese in about 24 hours of refrigeration. (Thickening continues for 24 hours, though a thinner yogurt cheese results in as little as 2 hours.) The yogurt cheese then becomes a healthful, calcium-rich, low-fat alternative to cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, and even whipping cream. It can be used as a spread, in salad dressings, to top baked potatoes, mixed with fruit, and to make cheesecake. The unit works by allowing the whey (liquid) in yogurt to drain away, leaving the curds behind. The container is dishwasher-safe and seals to prevent odor transfer while it's in the refrigerator. I like to make homemade yogurt but it always turns out too runny for my taste. I've been straining the yogurt myself but it's always messy and takes a bowl, strainer, paper towels -- not to mention another container with lid to store the yogurt cheese after it's done. The Donvier Yogurt Cheese Maker is so easy! Just plop your yogurt into the strainer and close the lid. Super simple -- and no mess. br /br /Clean-up is simple. I just pop the strainer portion in the top rack of the dishwasher and give the container a quick swipe with a soapy sponge. br /br /I love the nice cream-cheese consistency of yogurt cheese and now that it is so convenient to make I am using it a lot more often. Yogurt cheese is great mixed with fruit and honey, with salsa as a sour cream substitute to enjoy with tortilla chips or, my new favorite, mixed with a little salt, pepper, and lots of onion powder for a healthy version of french onion dip.br /br /I highly recommend this yogurt cheese maker. br /br /

Yogurt is so much more healthier for all of us, than cream cheese, etc. This is the perfect consistency for my granddaughter to eat, rather than the store bought thick stuff, which is loaded additives.br /This is definitely a five star item.

I love this, great for making the yogurt cheese, I'd like to be able to br /dump in a 32 oz yougurt and i do but it is too close to the edge almost overlflowing, invaribly some spills, it it were just 1/4 inch taller it br /would be great, also I shouldn't have to come back and dump the whey br /1/2 way through the bottom should be big enough to hold a the whey of a br /32 oz yougurt drained off. Follow the recipie ideas and then get creative with the yogurt cheese it is great. Try the key lime pie onebr /its the best! and it couldn't be easier to make!

I have really enjoyed my yogurt strainer. It works best with Kroger's store brand of nonfat plain yogurt made with pectin. Wal-Mart's store brand made with gelatin didn't work as well.
