Good Alarm, Bad Shaker July 22, 2008 I found this alarm to be good for light sleepers but not for heavy sleepers like myself because the alarm only shakes for 1 minute instead of nonstop or until I get out of bed.
You shook me all night long June 20, 2008 Well, you shook me for a few horrifying seconds, anyway-- I set the clock, then the alarm for two minutes later. Clipped the clock onto the bottom of my pillow inside the pillow case. Laid down and looked over the packaging and instructions (even though the clock is simple enough you don't need the instructions). Then the thing surprised me with the massive vibration that made it seem like the house was coming down. Even given that I was expecting it, it still really jolted me. I imagine if you snuck this into someone's bed as a prank, you could kill them with the shock of it.
Pros: Easy to set and use, really shakes you up. Comes with batteries installed- sweet! Cons: The audible alarm isn't loud at all. It is quieter than a regular alarm for sure, and is of course especially muffled if its under you pillow. (But the vibration ought to wake you up every time by itself)
A good idea but poor product June 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It was great when it worked. The vibration was slightly too mild but it was enough to wake me. I purchased this more for the purpose of not waking my roommates and less for my sleep problems. For anyone with a genuine sleeping disorder, I would not at all recommend this clock for the reason that it's simply too weak to really grab your attention.
Even if the clock were powerful enough, the stupid thing died after only four months of use. I put in new batteries, took out the batteries that were fresh, put in different ones... nothing. The clock worked just fine, but neither the alarm or vibrator would go off when it was supposed to. If I hit "test," both would work just fine. So there was something wrong with the connection between the set alarm and the actual execution of the command.
All in all, just spend the extra money to get a quality vibrating alarm clock that will actually last. Four months is just not worth a solid spend.
Vibrating alarm lasts only 1 minute February 21, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
After reading all the reviews for this alarm, I figured that this would be the best thing for my 14 year old son. He has such a hard time waking up in the morning. We even tried holding one of those alarms that have the two bells on top that clank over his head and that did not wake him up. The first morning he used this alarm, he tossed a little and started to wake up but the vibrations stopped after only one minute. That definitely is not long enough to wake someone up. I contacted Sonic Alert and asked them about this and they said the vibration only lasts for one minute because the clock runs on batteries. I told the customer service agent that was not long enough to wake someone up and she suggested that I try one of the other models that run on electricity since the vibrations will go on until you actually get up and shut off the alarm. I am returning this one to Amazon and have ordered one of the other Sonic Alert models. I also made sure to get the extension cord for the vibrator so the alarm clock can be placed as far away from my son forcing him to get up out of bed to shut it off.
Pretty Good Travel Clock December 27, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall I liked this product. The design has its good points (the clip is a nice addition and i like that you can use the clip to put the clock up as a hanging clock)and its bad points (the buttons/switches could have been better designed - a bit clumsy). I LOVED that the product comes with batteries INCLUDED so its working out of the box. I also liked the nice bag that came with it although note that it is different from the bag in the photo (the bag I got was a zip-up circular bag made out of cloth.).
