Let me start by saying that we have an extremely stubborn miniature Dachsund. Within a couple of days of receiving the gate, Rusty had chewed through the wood, making the gate ineffective. We added a screen to it, which fixed that problem, but soon enough he had figured out how to jump over the gate. He's a small dog, but the gate wasn't quite tall enough to prevent him jumping over it. We raised it, but it still was short enough for him to maneuver over at the right angle. br /br /This gate might work well for a well behaved small dog, but isn't quite tall/durable enough for a stubborn dog like ours.

This gate has been perfect for my family! Our large Yorkies (12 and 8 pounds)can put their paws on it but cannot jump over it. Our older cat (14 years) can easily clear it to have access to the entire house. We don't get our foot caught on it and pull it down or fall. The only complaint I have is when I had to take it down for an elderly family member to visit, it did take the paint off the wall. Granted, I have it on a very tight setting to avoid it coming loose if the kids do underestimate it's height. I have two of these, blocking off the carpeted areas, and they look very nice. Unlike the cheapo baby gates I had first tried. It has many adjustable features and has fit an uneven hallway perfectly!

I should have remembered the old adage you get what you pay for. I admittedly was looking for an inexpensive gate and this one seemed like a bargain. br /The bumpers are supposed to be adjustable but they do not actually screw into the unit. They just sit in the holes so they are NOT adjustable. br /I finally got the item to fit into my stairwell opening (the adjustable size claim is not 100% accurate. Your space must be a size to fit one of the sets of predrilled holes the knobs fit into) and after opening and shutting the door twice to make sure it swung over the carpet, it SNAPPED RIGHT OFF! Perhaps I merely received a defective one but I can assure you that I am taking it back to my local PetCo today. br /Save yourself the aggravation and spend a little more to get a better product.br /It did arrive very quickly and was in one piece.

This product is just awful. It arrived cracked, which really wasn't its biggest problem. The bumpers to hold the gate in place were totally inefficient, because the holes for the pumper screws were drilled too large. I returned it immediately.
