My dog all of a sudden couldn’t go up the stairs a while back (she was 4-1/2)and was in pain. After going to the vet and getting x-rays and being told she had arthritis/hip displasia I bought the Dasuquin from the vet even though it was $100, which I thought was outrageous, just so I could get her started on something.
I followed the directions but as usual for people or animals they start you out with too much and she had diarrhea. Instead of starting off with too much and then leveling off I then gave her a little and progressed UP. No more diarrhea but I can’t really tell if this works. I had her on aspirin before I got to the vet (I had to wait a day or so) and she was normal by the time we got there and hasn’t had a problem since. Is it the Dasuquin? Don’t know.
I’m trying to find something similar on the Internet but the ingredient proportions for the people’s version don’t correspond to the dog version and I don’t know if that’s important or not.
My dog is 11. I have had him on this vitamin since he is 8 years old. He hunts and does agility. No aches or pains. I used to have to give him an asprin after hunting. Since on these pills….no asprin needed. I really believe it is helping to keep his joints healthy.
I knew Glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM was good stuff, since I take the human version of it myself for joint care, but I was pleasantly surprised that within two weeks of giving it to my otherwise healthy 11 year old standard poodle, his slight stiffness in joints disappeared and he is acting like a dog half his age. Great stuff!
This is a very good product that really does help with canine arthritis. Pay extra for the MSM.
This has been the only product that helps my mastiff walk. I have tried numerous other MSM’s and glucosamine and for some reason, this is the only one that seems to help. I don’t undertand it, but I guess that doesn’t matter!
