I have used Drinkwell Pet Fountains for years. They’re great. However, I never use the filters. Think about it, your dog or cat will lick their rear end and drink from a puddle outside. Do they really need water that has been filtered through activated carbon? I don’t think so. This is a classic case of we humans thinking our pets are something more than they are.

Save your money.

Works well and have had no problems. Only complaint is the pump motor, which is louder than I expected. Puts out an audible humm, which can be heard through the floor in the room below, even though the fountain is on a thick carpet.

We have no large chain stores, let alone a petstore in this rural area. Good to know about prompt service for replacement filters for our Drinkwell fountain

I have two cats (9lbs & 8 1/2lbs) who love drinking from flowing water. In the past I spoiled them by turning on the faucet when they jumped onto the sink…bad idea if they want a drink at 2 a.m. or 3 a.m. (you get my drift). One day while “Windows” shopping I came across a water fountain for pets. What a find for me! The one with the best bowl is the Drinkwell, other ‘fountains’ have smaller bowls, better for small cats & dogs, the Drinkwell fountain had a rounded bowl which juts out from the falling water. Also the water ‘drops’ from the top. So if the cats like to drink the water directly from the ‘tap’ they can, or from the well they can. One other thing, if there is more than one cat using this I recommend that you include the reservoir in your purchase, they seem to drink more…which is a good thing. I am so pleased with this product.

These do just what they say, fit well in the fountain, and actually last a bit longer than the specified change out interval.
