Thumbs up The Gruffalo

When Mouse takes a stroll through the woods, he meets a fox, an owl, and a snake who all want to eat him! So Mouse invents a gruffalo, a monster with "terrible tusks and terrible claws, terrible teeth, and terrible jaws." But will Mouse's frightful description be enough to scare off his foes? After all, there's no such thing as a gruffalo . . . is there? Sturdy pages and a cozy trim make this rhyming read-aloud perfect for preschoolers. Winner of the prestigious British Smarties Prize.
Customer Review: My 3 year olds LOVE this book!
Our speech therapist first read this book to my son, and all I heard about for a week was "read the Gruffalo Mommy". We had to read this book every night for weeks after we got it. We've had it for 2 months now, and he still requests it several nights a week. Great book! My daughter likes the book too, but her twin brother won't give it up long enough to let her look at it...
Customer Review: Julia Donaldson is a wonderful author
This is a great book from one of my favorite children's authors, Julia Donaldson. If you have not read any of her books, I highly recommend The Gruffalo as the first. Her rhyming pattern is quite effective and does not feel monotonous like some other children's rhyming word books do. The story is fun to read and you cheer for the mouse as he ventures through the woods while trying to avoid becoming a meal for the other animals he encounters. A favorite bed time story. Also check out "Room on the Broom" by the same author--another fabulous book.
