Miko wants a pet dog more than anything. His friend Mimiki will pretend to be a dog for a little while, but he won't go on a leash. No doubt about itMiko needs a real dog. But Mama says Miko will have to wait until he's older. He's so disappointed, until he hears barking from the next door neighbor's yard, and Miko gets the chance to prove how good he can be with a dog. This cute story is perfect for family pet discussions, and also demonstrates the power of compromise.
Customer Review: "Mom, Can I Pleeeeeease Have a Dog?"
Miko is my favorite new children's picture book character. And in this book, Miko really, really wants a dog. He can't have a dog, though --- his Mom says so. They wouldn't be able to care for it, as they're away from home all the time and it would get lonely. Miko feels this is really too bad, as he's sure he could take good care of a dog. Miko finally gets his chance when his neighbor Mrs. Miller gets a new puppy. Watch as Miko gets a dog of his own, sort of. These Miko books are excellent and I'm hoping they really take off, because so far they don't seem to have gotten a lot of attention. The illustrations are extremely cute and the text is just right for the target age group. This German import is a winner!
