One of the smallest animals in the forest offers a prayer, moving in its simplicity, powerful in its message, beautiful in its visual and -- literally -- touchable art.
As day breaks and the sun rises, the woodland night creatures prepare for sleep. The smallest among them, a tiny mouse, bows his head and recites a sweet and touching prayer:
Bless all creatures North and South,
Bless trees, and trunks, and roots, and boughs.
Bless all creatures East and West.
Bless Mama, bless Papa -- I love them best.
In nature paintings of rare beauty, John Butler depicts the misty, early morning woodland setting with great delicacy, detailed realism, and reverence. The flocking throughout enhances not only the loveliness of the art, but the enjoyment of young readers who will love touching/petting the appealing little mouse and all the glories of nature that surround him.
Customer Review: My 13 month old LOVES this book!
Our son got this book for his birthday and he adores it! He brings the book to us saying "Mouse Mamma/Daddy! Mouse!" There's some good rhyming in it and the soft feel is great for toddlers. The pages are also thicker than most paperbacks and not as easy to tear. I highly recommend this book for your toddler.
Customer Review: Sweet and simple
This book is terrific for the very young. Full of fuzzies to feel and touch, it entices the reader to pat each animal and turn the page to see who is next. With it's soft colors and furry friends, it is a wonderful gift for holidays, birthdays and all year. I recommend it as a must for all toddlers. In fact it is a wonderful baby gift as well. ~~ Doris Fisher, author of Happy Birthday to Whooo?
