Hamster care and feeding is very important.Hamster Bedding: Paper or Yesterdays News. Never use Cedar it will kill your hamster, Never use Corn Cob it will kill your hamster, Use of Pine or Aspen is not advised due to hamsters sensitive noses.Hamsters food: hamster feed, sunflower seeds in moderation, Tofu, Broccolli, pumpkin seeds also in moderation. Never give a hamster Lettuce or Carrots. Lettuce contains laudenuam in it and is highly addictive, Carrots contain too much sugar content and can cause Diabetes in hamsters.Hamster Bathing: Never get a hamster wet. You can purchase Chinchilla Sand and put it in a small container and let the hamster roll around in it. This cleans all the oils from the human hand off the hamster and keeps his fur nice and clean and soft.Spend time with your hamster each day, feed it, change its water and clean out soiled food and bedding daily. Weekly clean the cage putting all new bedding.Make sure your hamster has chew toys. These can be made of Pine. Hamsters teeth continue to grow and need to be cut down if your hamster does not chew continuously her teeth will become overgrown causing a maloclusion and causing her ultimate death if not treated immediately. Nail care, give them something with calcium to walk on you can purchase a log made for this at the pet store.Hamsters only need to go to the vet if they are sick or if they need their teeth or nails cut.
