I have two guinea pigs my 7.5 year old has lost some weight and was a little sick. A visit to the local vet showed that his far back teeth had broken off. He still can eat on his own but everything needs to be broken down to smaller parts. I'd like to see him put more weight on again. Does anyone have any advice on how I can do this without making thing worst for the poor thing.

if he is having problems with his back teeth it is possible it could be a vitamin c deficiency called scurvy or it might just be from old age considering it is 7.5. my guinea pig recently had a wieght problem and the vet determined it was scuvy and perscribed critical care foods and lots of vitamin c. i wouldnt take those drastic measures because your vet didnt mention scurvy but you can feed your guinea pig baby food. try carrots or applesauce
