Exclamation First Time Hamster Owner

http://www.glueck-ober-pech.com/

))Hello,
I'm Shaunie and I'm a first time hamster owner. I was just curious about the things that I do with my hamster. Is Fluff beddin okay for his cage? He keeps me up all night, is there any way I can get him out of the habit of sleeping in the day time (i know they're nocturnal)? I never see him drink his water, should I put it in a bowl instead of the water bottle? how often should I feed him in a day? he tends to fall asleep in his hamster ball. when he does that i put him in his cage...is that okay??

I've only had him for about 3days so I really need help.

Thanks

Hello!!!! Shaunie
Congrats on your new hamster.
No it i not safe to use the fluffy nesting material for your hamster it is dangerous. Unless if says on the packet I.H.A. approved.
There is not a lot you can do to get him to change his sleeping habits, if it is light during the day he will sleep.
Hamsters drink very little water, so you will not be able to see much difference in the water levels from day to day. But I assure you he will be drinking it.
It is not wise to use a dish / bowl as it can become very dirty quickly, and will get tipped over leaving him without a drink. I would say leave him with the bottle it is much more hygienic.
He needs feeding only once a day as he will store most of that food in his little hoards somewhere.
If he is falling asleep in his ball you may be leaving him in there too long, he only requires about 10 - 15 mins at a time.
