Well...I have guinea pigs so this may help. First of all, food. Gerbils have special pellets that will supply them with all needed nutrients, these can be bought at almost any pet store. Keep them stocked with fresh veggies, such as carrots, lettuce, and cucumbers. Give them fresh water to be changed every other day, Every day in the summer. They need plenty of toys. Big tubes to climb in, hay to nest in, and shelter to hid in. Keep away from those toy balls though. They bend the animals spine out of shape which could result in a slow painful death. Don't go and buy expensive toys, yo can use stuff at home. Toilet paper rolls to chew on, shredded newspapers to burrow in too. These animals need lots of love and attention. Get them out to play EVERY day. Keep them away from drafts and damp places, they can get a chill and die. Also be sure to keep cats, dogs, and other predators away from them. Be sweet and gentle, keep in mind they can feel pain and fear too!I hope this helps you!
