I really want a turtle, but I don't want to jump into something and not know what I'm doing. I also don't want someone telling me unnesessary things to buy.

The thing you have to understand you have to re-create it's naturl habbit. You have to bring the outdoors in. And remember these turtles live to be rather old and rather large. Your local pet store can help with supplies, but start small. This stuff is rather expensive. Within the first 2 weeks we almost spent $300 and only needed to spend $75. So just be smart and do your research and make sure you REALLY want a turtle. The can be a lot of upkeep. Good luck!
