Potential Odotongenic Tumor in my Rex
Hi. I'm new to this forum but wanted to try and reach out to folks. I have a 3 year old albino rex that has preliminarily been diagnosed with an odotongenic tumor in his lower jaw. We are still awaiting the final biopsy results but have already received the preliminary results. The mass shows up as bone on x-rays and is hard to the touch. Some of the other prelim results is that they feel it is locally invasive and more likely not to metastasize. Hopefully the final biopsy results will yield more info.
I take him and my other rabbit to an exotic vet and have received excellent care at this practice. She said she has never encountered a case in a rabbit before but knows they do occur in cats.
My question is, has anyone encountered odotongenic tumors in rabbits? If so, what was the outcome? Depending on the final results, one potential treatment option is to remove part of my rabbit's lower jaw. Has anyone experienced a similar situation? I am grateful for any information anyone can provide as quality of life for my rabbit is my top concern and as much info as I can obtain will help me make the best decision possible.
