Default I need to know if there is anything special I need to take care of a...

...rabbit......10 points to best answer...? I found this injured rabbit in my back yard yesterday and am currently trying to take care of it. It looks like she must have been attacked by another animal because of the injuries she has on her right foot and the back of her neck. I live around alot of woods and my guess is she came into my backyard with the three other rabbits to escape whatever it was. Anyway, I watched them for awhile and when I saw that she could not carry on with the rest and was struggling a bit I went to see what was wrong. Needless to say if I would have left her alone she surely would have become prey to some other animal that night. So, just looking for any information to help me take care of this rabbit until it gets feeling better again and I can release her. Right now, I have her in a large clothes basket with a blanket and a bowel of water and another of carrots....Any help would be appreciated....

feed them, clean the hutch, make sure they have plenty of fresh water. get the nails cut once a month and pay them lots of attention and give them plenty of exercise

get a flea collar number one~ that's what I'd do... I think if you put topical cream on it like neosporin(sp*) it should heal. Clean it with mild soap. Treat like a human wound. NO need for alcohol of course. Give her some lettuce too* because she is in you care and not the wild you will need to provide a salt lick... Good Luck with her and keep us posted*Oh use gloves too and long sleeve shirts*

If it is a wild rabbit, you may want to take it to an animal shelter in order for them to treat any injuries and rehabilitate it to the wild.My kids have a pet bunny, it has a diet of packaged rabbit pellets and assorted veggie scraps such as carrot peels, lettuce leaves, celery as well as apple slices and hay.

all depends on how hurt it is? and how young it is? wild rabbits are hard to raise. most will die, no matter what you do. its sad but true. Its nice that you care to help. good luck and god bless. http://www.debmark.com/rabbits/faq/wild.htm

Call a local humane society. They will come pick the rabbit up from your home and take it to their care center. Also, rabbits need a variety of vegetation. Carrots are not enough to sustain them. The rabbit is susceptible to infection if there are open wounds. If you call the humane society they can take better care of the animal. You are a very kind person to help this animal. I think it is great that you care!
