I have 2 bull terriers that bred and successfully whelped 4 puppies; 2 died due to small defects. They were born from c-section. After delivery the mother seemed to be secure with the puppies, and was not acting like she would reject them. The next day, I had been supervising constantly and as soon as I left for one minute, the mother attacked one pup, leaving huge gashes. I took the pup to the vet and they sealed up her wounds, and she was striving to live. However, she passed away last nite, in her sleep. Does anyone have any info on why this may have happened? The mother was letting her nurse and showed no signs of rejection.
