Customer Review: Why?
10 stars. I have a weekly college-station radio show. And, since our station received "Horses" several weeks ago, I've been putting it on the air a LOT. I LOVE it. This album needs to be heard. Why is this album so good? No idea. But it is. It's fabulous. It seems old timey yet modern, and is very mysterious. I think "Horses" is similar in quality and style to the Tin Hat Trio's "Book of Silk," an album I though was unmatchable. Robert Stillman has matched and even, I think (though I love Tin Hat), surpassed it. "Horses" is the best album of the year. And I don't even know what genre it is. Hope Robert Stillman has more music released soon. I'd buy it unhesitatingly.
Customer Review: subtle changes inside
Robert Stillman is artful at creating a quiet revolution. The beauty and subtlety of these songs sneakily send the listener into an amazing world that we hesitate to dream exists, for fear that we would not return ot earth. This music makes dreams possible. At the same time, there is an underlying sadness here, maybe the sad knowledge that while we are imagining a new reality we are chained to our earthly realm.
