I've got water conditioner and dechlorinator tablets. They dissolve really fast. It's one tablet per ten gallon. My question is, can you put more than what it recommends? Will it hurt the fish or the water?

I'd stick with the recommendations.

If it says to put in a certain amount then only put in that ammount. Otherwise you might hurt the fish.

I used to have a 55 gallon tank and a LOT of fish in it. I would say that you shouldn't over do the amount because fish aren't used to the chemicals. The recommended is most likely the best way to go, so that way you won't have to worry about hurting your fish. Plus, Its usually a good i dea to go by the directions.

You can usually double the amount without harming your fish but you really should only put in the amount they say.Do you use both the water conditioner and the dechlorinator tablets? Since they both remove the chlorine from the tap you only need to use one.

probably not because there might be some chemicals that the tablet has but are only non toxic in a low concentration. but lethal in high concentrations so perhaps you shouldn't. Unless there is some sort of label that says you can add more withput harmful or lethal effects then sure but I would just add the amount it says to. Hope this helps

I wouldn't put in any more than what the directions say to since it may cause you fish harm. Why would you want to use more than it states any way? Stick with what the directions tell you, then if that doesn't make the problem better talk with your local fish dealer. Or get back on here and ask some one what the problem may be. But give more details so that all of us will be able to help you.Good luck and don't over do what the directions state or you may do harm to your fish. Remember that just because they are dissolving fast that doesn't mean that they are not working, it only means that they are suppose to do that to help your fish faster.

There's no need for extra tablets. The recommended amount will do the job just fine. Any extra chlorine/ammonia etc will be taken care of in time with the filter and other biological processes that go on. It's not worth the risk to add too many extra chemicals. Remember too much of a good thing can be bad. Best wishes to you.
