angel fish are really difficult to take care of. this is from experience. you need a tank that is taller than it is long. it should be about ten gallons. I suggest you buy a book on angel fish and make sure you are up to the challenge. good luck.

Angelfish require a pretty minimum tank set up for spawning. A bare bottom, fairly tall tank (20 gallon tall), piece of slate and a sponge filter are the usual recommendations. No hang on tank filters as the fry will be sucked up into it. Plenty of places to look up information on angelfish breeding on the net. Check out my reference for a slew of facts about fresh water fish.Without the above, though, a breeding pair will continue to spawn, just unsuccessfully. The eggs won't mature or will get picked off by scavengers or other fish. The angels will, though, continue to do their thing. I have a pair of pure black 6 inch breeders which I do not breed at this time. Doesn't stop them from spawning. Good luck.

Read this site over a few times, just to get an idea of the equipment you will need; http://webrbiz.com/angelfish/amh.html A small angel spawn is 200 fry, each needing 1/2 gallon of water to get to a minimum selling size. Large spawns exceed 600. I've been breeding angels for years, the hardest part is finding someone to buy your fish. Once you get a system down breeding them is easy. I sell mostly to brokers, a few shops, and at auctions. Make sure to have plenty of extra tank space, if the market slows down you won't be selling any fish for a few months, and have to house them until it picks up.
