Default what is the best way possible to take care of a stray dog that seems to be very

clean? its a medium sized dog, and it's teeth are extremely clean ad its young, not very young but not an adult maybe just a grown up big puppy if that makes sense.it cant go inside, and it seems really clean like it has been taken care of, it has a flee color on it too. but i think i might end up taking care of it, it is well behaved and seems very young. i dont want to take it to the vet yet, but if i have some flea and heartworm medicine should i go ahead and give it to the dog? or would i have to take it to the vet first? im not sure if my parents would approve of keeping it, because vet visits do cost alot. but i feel for this animal because i love all animals and i cant just ignore it. please provide me with good reasonable answers, thank you. :]

You anwered your own question, if your parents do not want to spend money on Vet visit, and you do not have the money, then you do not have the resources to properly take care of a dog at this time in your life,( you will one day)! Even if a dog is perfectly healthy it still needs doggy shots, must be dewormed if it has not been, the best way to know is bring a stool from your dog to the Vet. So there are many reasons you must have visits with a Vet. also your parents must want to help take care of the dog when you have things going on, otherwise the longer you keep the dog and not find a good home the harder to give the dog up and you will most likely cry alot over saying goodbye. hope things work out for the best, but let your parents make the final decision! My dad would never let me have a dog or any pet, so when I grew up I got my own dogs cat, and fish.

Hi! if the dog is as clean as you say...chances are his/her owner is looking for the dog. Go to a vet or pet store nearbye and tell them you found the dog. The dog might be chipped or something!
Heartworm and other meds are administered mostly by weight. You shouldn`t give the dog anything that hasn`t been perscribed by the vet.
Good luck!
