Default WET / DRY - Warm or Cold Dog nose.... does the condition of your Dog's nose

really give a hint about health? I've heard that if your Dog's nose is Wet & cool - then they are feeling good and indicates "good health", but if it is Dry & warm...they may be feeling sick or could indicate a problem. Is there any truth to this?

yes its true a dog wets its nose with its tongue to keep cool as dogs are warm blooded and dont sweat. if the dog is feeling cold which is an important sign it is not well it wont wet its nose so the nose will feel warm and dry to the touch

Generally this is accepted that a wet dog nose is a symptom of good health; humidity is produced, mainly, in the lateral nasal glands of the nose. However, dehydrated dogs, though healthy, will have a dry nose, cause the body reacts reducing the liquid production. A dog sitting in a hot place may also have a dry nose temporarily. Besides, a dog recovered from distemper at an early age, may have a dry nose permanently.

a good parent or dog owner knows when there dog, baby or pet is feeling sick my dogs nose is usually wet unless she goes and lays in the sun for a long time and then it is dry but after she cools down and drinks some water with pedialyte in it it is wet again.
