Unhappy I need help! My black lab is about 8 - 9 yrs old

He has always been right by me. Never an outside dog.
So, we know for sure he was not running etc. to get hurt
One day he just stopped using his front leg for no reason.
He limps all day long!!!
We have been to a few vets. 2 diff. xrays & 4 -5 vets - NONE OF THEM were able to figure out why he was limping.
All they could say was he was not in any pain.
Now, months later & $$$$ spent for nothing.
Oh, & now that we are very very broke at the moment-
The last week or so he is now acting like he is in a lot of pain!
He can't get on / off the bed, couch etc.
It is hard for him to lay down / stand up.
He cries when he has to get on/ off the bed etc.
The vets we saw checked everything- pulling his leg etc. He has been in no pain until just now.
Can anyone please help out?
What can I give him for pain for time being?
Has anyone had anything like this?
Thanks

two respounces, my wife thinks it could be arthritis, and a blood test may reveal if so. My thoughts is such an unusual case needs unusual treatment like a dog therapist, like the lady on TV that claims she can communicate with animals.

Smile Try this

We had the same problem in our german shepherd/golden retriever/collie and a friend recommended glucosomine and chondroitin in liquid form. We give him about 3oz a day shot straight in his mouth (followed by a treat, he hates the taste) and within 2 days he has stopped limping and is running around as normal. We give it every day for about 2 weeks until it is clear the flare up has gone. You can buy it from any pet store for about $10-$20 depending on the size. Good luck.

Lyme disease would definitely be something to look at. I'd have the vet do a panel for multiple tick borne diseases.

Adding a good joint supplement would be a wise thing to do. Something that contains a combination of glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM. Synflex has a liquid that also has some herbals for pain and inflammation. I'd also add a good quality fish oil.

Have you checked his paw to make sure there isn't an injury to a paw pad, or in between the paw pads?

You can also try massaging the leg, even his back, with an oil containing peppermint and/or wintergreen essential oils. this can help relieve pain and inflammation.
