INTRANSIT is on a distinguished road
Default I am a 38 yr.old single female w/no kids. I left my 10yr career in IT to...

...start a dog walking / care business. Am I foolish??? After coming from a career in IT, I feel like a major loser telling people that I'm a "dog walker". Dog walking sounds like something a kid does in the summer to make extra money. However, I love it, I love dogs/animals and they love me. And I am good at it. At this point in my life I have no savings....no 401k and I am still a renter. I am just living day-to-day. I look forward to getting up in the morning and walking dogs. Am I crazy??

No, I'm 37 and want to do the same thing. It's sounds better when you say 'pet sitter'. There is no shame in doing what you like in life...even if it pays less.

NO!!! you are NOT crazy!!! You are living your dream! You are living life to the fullest! I think it is so wonderful that you were not afraid to make this transition. Many people would be afraid to. But not you! If only we could all be as in touch with our real desires, instead of getting stuck in a job/life that is unfulfilling!I think what you are doing is GREAT!!!!by the way I am 42.

I don't think you are foolish , your doing something that brings you joy and a feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day, few people can say that in their current jobs. Concerning savings, home ownership and future security perhaps you could expand your business and even franchise , lots of possibilities , I think you will be okay )
