How should I care for my 9 month old dog after neutering?

try to feed him as per vet directions. Tomorrow he might be a little sore, so you want to give him the anti- inflamm. drugs the vet should have given you. You also want to watch him and make sure he does not bother the area by licking it a lot.Oh, the best spray for keeping him from fussing with the area is Dr. Gold's itch relief. It has soothing things like aloe vera and lidocaine to help with pain and itching, and Bitrex like bitter apple, but it is a water base instead of alchohol. (Ouch! not what I would want on any incision!)Keep him to leash walks only, especially today and tomorrow. By day three they are usually acting like themselves and by day 4 you are looking at the vet instructions to "keep them quiet for a week" and thinking, "yeah, right!" lol!oh, and watch for any major sweling in the scrotal sac. It should not get that large, too swollen ot showing any signs of infection!

carefully! you dont want the stitches to come out! that would be bad. Also don't let it run around and watch him. make sure he doesn't bite the stitches.

First I want to say bravo to you for being a responsiable pet owner and doing your part to help. Your vet should have went over it with you already.... depending on how long ago he was brought out from under the anisthiea then you should offer small amounts of water only till he can hold it down then a small meal......male tend to recouperate a little faster so you shoule not have any problems.... keep him quiet fora while but I have found that they will increse their activity on there own. just like us they know when somthing hurts. I do not know about your vet but mine put in a meatlal "stitch" witch kept him from licking to bad.... some breeds are worse than others and then some dogs are worse than others also so breed is not really a factor you know your dog and know if he is a licker. just keep an eye on him and inspect the wound atleast three times a day at first, any sign of major redness, puss, or a stich pulling out call your vet. like i said males are a little easier to deal with and he wont be down long. On the weight thing, It really depends on activity/energy level, He is a pup so should be alright for a while. just make sure he gets his walks(after he is recovered) and you should be ok. I have a german shephered and a shiba inu, that have been fixed for 2 years and they are still at the same weight as befor..... good luck and thankyou for getting him fixed.

Treat her like a injured baby, shes weak and completely vulnerable, keep it close with you so that you can tend to her and just be real gentle.
