Approximately 6 months of age. Approximately 6-8 pounds. Some kittens at 5 months may need the small size if they are growing fast or are large-breed cats. Small-boned adult cats often wear the small size. If your cat seems smaller than an average full-grown cat, choose small. Each Soft Paws kit contains 40 nail caps, 2 tubes of adhesive, applicator tips and easy to follow instructions. One kit contains enough for 4 front paw applications. Each application lasts approximately 4-6 weeks therefore each kit lasts approximately 4-6 months.
Customer Review: Soft Paws Are Great and Safe!
This is NOT an unsafe product. Below is my opinion based on my experience with Soft Paws: I'm not a "Dr." however I love cats and have had multiple cats ever since I was young. My wife and I tried Soft Paws for our kitten when he started flexing his claws into our sides in the early morning. I would not have our kitten declawed so I looked into alternatives and found Soft Paws. The small plastic tips fit over his claws and work GREAT. (We got the clear ones so he wouldn't look like a clown with colored nails.) He's still able to retract his claws so it's not like he's got these big things on his nails. They're small and mostly unnoticeable. Soft Paws stay on for a couple weeks and are designed to fall off as his nails grow. Our kitten is as playful as ever and still climbs up the couch. Now, instead of getting cuts on our sides, we get a nice kitty massage in the early morning. Whoever says this is an inhumane and unsafe product has obviously never tried it. Soft Paws are great! And I will definitely order more.
Customer Review: The best alternative to declawing
After reading about how horrible declawing was, I resolved never to declaw my own cats. However, my new kitten didn't take to his scratching post, despite my best efforts. I decided I would rather have shredded furniture than mutilate my cat, but then I found out about Soft Paws. I wish I could hand out fliers at vets offices everywhere. This is the BEST product. Soft Paws are easy to use and they really work. For the first application, you fill all of the nail caps with a small amount of the glue, and then slip them on kitty's nails. My kitten was used to having his nails handled because I always trimmed them, as did his breeder. If your cat isn't used to you touching their nails, it might be a good idea to start massaging them while you are petting them a few days before hand. Once the nail caps are on, the cat might pull a few off, but they are easy to replace. My cat doesn't even seem to be aware of them anymore. After a month or so, a few will fall off, and you simply replace them. I cannot say enough how WONDERFUL this product is. No cat should ever be declawed again, because these really work, without harming the cat or changing its behavior.
