Default Old cat, may be dying?

Hello All My name is Alora, and I'm new to the forum.
I was wondering if someone could help me out with our cat, Casper...He's about 14-15 years old and is acting odd...He has some sort of thyroid problem and hes super skinny...Its been like that for over a year now, but starting 1-1.5 months ago, he started making these really strange hacking noises...its different from a hairball though, it sounds more like choking on blood to me, but we're not sure what it is. Also my mom caught him with a bloody nose this morning, and he has been smelling funny lately.
The other day we had a thunderstorm, and for some reason, he went into hiding under my dads toolbox in the garage, and yet hes seen uncountable thunderstorms in his life, and never been bothered by them?
Hope you can help!
Alora

Hi and welcome. Have you taken him to the vet recently if not i suggest that you do and quickly. Something is not right and so the vet is the best person to see. Hope he is ok please let us know.----AGGY

Hello again...I lost my password and stuff on here and haven't been on the computer much lately...Almost a month ago now we took our kitty into the vet and even the vet didn't know what was wrong with him...She just said that his thyroid was the largest she'd ever seen, so we decided to put him to sleep. We figured it was best for him, because he was in pain. My other cat Arwen, doesn't know what to do with herself...She misses her buddy. But I bought her a bunch of toys so she doesn't get bored while i'm at school.

I am so sorry to hear that. I think you did the right thing as he didn't sound right and you said yourself he had changed. I have just lost my Yorkie he was 161/2 yrs and he had to be pts last Thursday as he had quite a few health problems and they finally caught up with him. It's a cruel world sometimes. All the best.---Aggy

Aw I'm sorry...Thats pretty good for a small dog! I kinda feel bad for my other cat Arwen, because she's known Casper for her whole life and now hes gone...I wanna get another cat so she doesn't get lonely, because she sure as heck won't play with our greyhound...lol
