Default Neighbor's taking care of their cats?

My neighbor has three kids and three cats. When they got the first cat, all was well. When they got the second cat, they did not get along, so the first cat came over to my house. I have one cat, and leave food out for her. Then, they got the third cat, and they all started coming over to my house. My neighbor's kids only come outside about twice a week. Most of the time, it looks like they are not home. I have started to let the cats in my garage to sleep in the afternoon and have a pet door installed. In the past couple of weeks, the little girls have come over asking if they can have their cats. One time, I asked her if she had any little pet beds in their garage for them to sleep on, telling her if they did, maybe they would stay over there. She said they are gone a lot and sometimes don't feed them. They sent their youn son over last night at 9 looking for them. Any suggestions? I don't want them to go to the pound or anything.

I would talk to the parents about what you told us. That is clearly animal abuse, and the authorities should be called if this continues to happen. Obviously, they have no right to have animals with their busy schedules.

You must be a very nice neibourghs to look after the cats but they should be looking after them not you. As well as they now I.O.U money as you are paying to look after there cats with your money, i would speak with the rspca and ask if you could have them as it is unfair on the cats. hope this helpsgood luck

Lock the pet door before dark. Make sure the cats are out. Your neighbor will probably move soon and leave the poor animals anyways. Now that they know you put out food they consider your home part of there domain.

You should get some kind of award for your kindness to these clearly abandoned cats. It is past time for a talk with the parents about the care of the cats, but you still need to try. No one can take advantage of you without your permission. They certainly aren't teaching their children anything about the responsibility of having pets. Are you willing to continue to care for these cats if the neighbors buy the cat food? I'm saying that because it seems to be the only option you have. When cats are outdoors, they go where the food is just to survive. If they cannot or will not take care of the cats, and you don't want to adopt them, then someone should find new homes for them. Is there a no-kill shelter in your area? Good luck.

Tell the family to take care of their cats and tell what happens to the cats when they go to the pound maybe they have never knew this! Ask them to take care of the cat as though it was your own child. Tell them if they don't then can you take care of the cat!

i am sorry, you had to go through all this hassle, just to tr to take acre of your neighbors cats, but you have to tell the owner, enough is enough and you need to control them.
