Default Does anyone have experience on caring for a cat with disabilities???

I am adopting a four year old cat who was hit by a car a couple of years ago. We are picking her up today! Tulip (the kitty I am adopting) walks very off kilter. She has what I can best explain as a "drunken stagger". I have not yet taken her to the vet to ascertain whether this is due to brain damage or nerve injuries, ect. I have four other cats, but I plan to keep her seperated from them for a few days to allow her to adjust to her new home. I was just wondering if anyone else had ever cared for a kitty who had similiar problems and could give me some helpful tips. I have a couple of flights of stairs in the house and I am unsure of how she will navigate on them. Do you think that baby gates for the stairs will be necessary? Thanks in advance for any advice you might be able to offer! I just want to make sure Tulip is comfortable, safe and has anything she needs!

My little george cat is a wobbly walker! He was hit by a car and had his tail broken, and also lost all his teeth, he isn't hard to care for, but we have to make life a little eaisier on him by feeding him on the floor, having a hole in the garden fence for him to walk through, he has some probs grooming so we have to clean his botty and brush him, just little thingsunless you don't want her upstairs i'd leave the stair gates as she'll probably just try to jump them anyway... Tulip is obviously a little fighter ... i'm sure she'll let you know if she needs anything ...good on you for adopting a raggycat ... george is the best cat i could ask for he has a real strength of character as im sure yor kitty will have too!
