Ok this is hard for me...my birds wish they were free. Whenever they go outside in their cages they are just so happy but I know I can't release them because they are so domesticated. Also, my hamster LOVED to go outside freely and i wanted to set her free but she was so domesticated there was no way she could survive. I feel sorry but I know that keeping them in a cage is keeping them alive....maybe not a snake though!

Well, if you want to keep them as pets then yes, that is the way to go. but really, they should be in the wild.

Depends upon where you are coming from with this question. No it's not good for birds to live in cages or snakes in tanks. HOWEVER, if kept as a pet, it keeps them safe. In a birds case, it really does give him a sense of security to hide from whatever he may see as a predator if he has a cage. In my case, three cats. For the snake, it keeps the snake safe from accidents around the house, They fit just about anywhere and could get hurt or killed. And keeping the snake in a tank prevents the mice you feed him from sneeking away at night and sleeping in YOUR bed. Also keeps the snake from sleeping with you at night which isn't a good idea. Ever seen or smelled snake poo? I don't think you want THAT in your bed!

This is fine about wild animals, but we have interfered with dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, etc to the point where they no longer have the requirements they need to survive in the wild. That's what makes them DOMESTICATED. What you are suggesting would be more cruel to the animals (and the environment) than living in homes with loving families. I just want you to stop and THINK for a minute. That's it, just THINK, instead of repeating some nonsense that someone brainwashed you with. You'll come to the logical conclusion. Of course, that's assuming you're talking about just letting animals go. If you're not, then you're talking about euthanasia to all domestic animals and not allowing anyone to have animals in captivity for any reason, IE PETA's motto, "Total Animal Liberation," and you're an idiot AND like to kill animals.

Hey, here's a novel idea. How about you stop lurking in the pet section, since you hate the idea of pets so much? I'm on the verge of reporting you for harassment.
