Have a box ready for your female to give birth in. It should be big enough for her lie on her side not up against the walls of it. Have something soft like old towels or old sheets. You will need to have to replace them once she finishes delivering her puppies. When she starts labor put her in the box. Unless the puppies are too big there probably isn't a whole lot for you to do during the delivery. Just watch her and let her do her thing. You could help her remove the water sack from the puppy and make sure it has started to breath. I would advise you to cut the placenta an inch to inch and a half and not let the mother chew it off..... sometimes they get it too short.I've had quite a few rat terriers, use to breed them, none ever had any whelping problems. She'll want to like them and that is ok. Between births put the puppie up to nipple to start nursing.
