I love Black Lyretail mollies. They will do best in a planted tank, so they would need some gravel or pots with plants in them. IF you want a bare tank, then be sure to feed lots of vegetable matter fish food. A community tank with similar fish is okay, but they will benefit from having some salt added to the tank. Most pet stores should have sponge filters. The mollie babies are usually larger than guppy babies and they are less likely to eat the young. A ten gallon tank would be sufficient for two mollies. If you have a local pet store I am sure they can offer some information. And, if you have a local aquarium society, check them out as well. You can check the listings on the Federation of American Aquarium Societies for more information on local clubs. Or try the forum link on the Nassau County Aquarium Society website.
