duvaxyn ie for a standard flu vaccine, duvaxyn iet for a flu vaccine with tetanus are the most widely used in the UK. It is normal to start a horse with a course of 3 injections, 1st injection is a flu/tet vaccine, 2nd injection is between 30-90 days for a standard flu jab, 3rd vaccine is then within 12 months from the 2nd vaccine (must be no more than 365 days to compete in riding club/pony club competitions, to take your horse on a racecourse or most show grounds. You must then continue the vaccinations, a flu/tet every 2 years, flu on it's own on the alternate years. Again, don't go over 365 days or you have to start the course again. Now that it is a legal requirement for all horses in the EU to have a passport, most vets will stamp up the horses passport as your record for when your horse was last vaccinated. The old system before passports was a card issued by the drug manufacturer which most passport issuing authorities will have included within the horses passport for the continuation of records of vaccination which is essential for competition regulations.
