There are also stories like this in papers around the world concerning the practice of keeping dangerous and exotic pets A turtle may seem harmless enough, but did you know that they actually carry salmonella? It seems that the main concern is the baby turtles. It is not that the little guys have more cases of salmonella,

The leopard gecko is a member of the reptilian class of animals. It is also known to be one of the smallest reptiles in the world. Some tiny geckos are known to only grow to reach a length of about 0.6 in (or 1.6 cm). However adult leopard geckos can grow to reach the length of 8 to 12 inches long and weigh as much as 60 to over 100 grams. In the United States, one of the most commonly bred lizards is the leopard gecko. Origin of this reptile came from the dry land of India, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Leopard geckos are considered to be very god natured creatures. The big head and hard bodies of this reptile do not change the fact that these reptiles are very easy to take care of.

One thing that makes this lizard different from most other geckos is their physical structures. Leopard geckos have well developed eyelids. There toes do not have expanded toe tips (or webs), most other geckos does not have these features.

Leopard gecko has a vast variety of different colors and patterns. These are the things that make the gecko so popular especially among those who have a huge interest in the world of lizards. Over the years, through generations of breeding leopard geckos, a wide variety of new and unique colors and patterns have been created.

In general, there are at least twenty different varieties (or morphs) of the leopard gecko that are available in the market. Among the many different leopard gecko morphs include the las vegas (rainwater) albino, bell albino, tremper albino, tangerine, carrot-tail, stripe, reverse stripe, red stripe, giant, jungle, APTOR, mack snow, line bred snow, patternless, enigma, eclipse, and blizzards.

The Leopard geckos are one of the nocturnal creatures. This means that leopard geckos are most active during the night. They are also terrestrial animals meaning, this lizard prefers to live on dry land.

Leopard geckos can live up to 20 years provided that they are well taken cared of by their owners and that they are living in a proper environment. As a responsible owner, it is important to make sure that you keep your leopard gecko healthy and happy. You should see to it that you provide the few basic things that are needed by your leopard gecko. Vitamin supplement is a good way to keep your gecko at its best shape. Leopard geckos shed their skin habitually. Thus it is important to keep them in a humid type of habitat to make shedding properly become easy for them.

Providing a shed box for your pet gecko is a great way to help accommodate your pet. A shed box is essentially a hide box which has damp sphagnum moss. This will keep the hide moist and thus aids the leopard gecko in the shedding process. It is also important for a leopard gecko to maintain a healthy diet. Remember that leopard geckos store their fats on their tail so that they will have something to consume during the times of scarcity. This fact will give you an idea on what to look for in a healthy gecko. Take note that a leopard gecko with a fat tail is a healthy gecko.

Michael Corben aims to help people who wish to learn more about Leopard Geckos and how to provide the best care. If you

Pets add such a wonderful dimension to life. But if you have a warm-blooded pet including but not limited to a bird, cat, dog, bunny, or ferret, they introduce a potent allergen in the form of dander. Here are 5 ways you can manage your allergy symptoms and enjoy your pet more.

Create A Pet-Free Zone---We both know this is easier said than done, but it can really mean the difference between keeping your pet and enjoying it, or being miserable all the time and possibly having to find a new home for it.

The space where your pet is not allowed to go is going to have less dander, hair, and pet-related irritants. Being able to relax here will give your body some down time that it needs to rejuvenate. It will also let you relax emotionally because you know that you are less likely to have a flare-up because the air has fewer triggers.

Clean Frequently---With a warm-blooded pet you are never going to get rid of all of the hair, dander, and fur. But with regular and thorough cleaning to can greatly reduce the number of allergens which will give you relief from symptoms.

Bathe Your Pet---In some cases this works well, but you will have to decide whether this is a feasible option based on your individual pet. Consulting with a veterinarian before you begin bathing is crucial.

Bathing your pet can sometimes lessen the amount of dander it shed. And since it is the protein in the dander that is such a potent allergy trigger, anything you can do to get rid of it is worth a try.

The right kind of cleanser and the frequency are crucial to your pet's health. Using the wrong kind of product can cause health problems for your pet, and can make the dander situation worse.

Some pets will object to this regimen more than others. So you will have to weigh the possible benefits against your pet's possible disdain for baths.

Wash Bedding Regularly---Dander is a food source for dust mites. So it is crucial that you keep your bed linens laundered as well as your pet's special blanket, rug, and/or bedding.

These should be washed at temperatures that exceed 160 degrees Fahrenheit in order to kill mites. Washing the linens gives double benefits (in addition to clean sheets!). Reducing the dander reduces the food source for mites, and since dust mites are also an allergen you are successfully eliminating two of the most potent indoors allergens known.

Use A HEPA Air Cleaner---Using an air purifier with a HEPA (an abbreviation for high efficiency particle arresting) filter is an effective, low maintenance, and non-invasive way to eliminate airborne particulates.

As its name suggests, it is highly efficient at removing airborne particles. In order to be designated as a HEPA it must be able to trap 99,997 out of every 10,000 airborne particulates that are .3 microns or greater.

The really good thing about this type of filtration is that not only will it remove pet-related pollutants such as dander, and hair; but it will also remove more normal indoor irritants such as dust, dust mites, mold and mildew spores, seasonal pollens as well as airborne bacteria and viruses.

Taking these 5 steps will minimize the allergens in your air, improve your quality of life, and give you more quality time to enjoy your pet.. And being able to reduce your symptoms allows you to enjoy your pet more. And that's a win win situation for all!

------

The Pet Dander Air Purifier will help you manage your pet allergies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Training Your Cats or Kittens With Optimistic Corroboration.

Pets make our dwelling extra full by being there to greet you after a hard day at work or snuggling as much as you while you sleep. Cats have been termed the most fickle of creatures; nonetheless, they're candy lovable creatures if you happen to increase them from infancy. Most cats recognize their owners by the sound of their voice, the car they drive, and who spoils them the most. Like canine, cats will be trained. A cat can be skilled to return to your name, to convey their toys when they wish to play, as well as extra domestic points akin to utilizing a litter box. The key to training a cat or kitten is reinforcement.

Reinforcement starts at any age, however it is typically smart to start out with a kitten. Cats can not distinguish words, however they're very astute in distinguishing tones of your voice. They are going to know they have performed something flawed just by the tone of voice you use. For this reason it is very important use your upset voice once they have executed something mistaken, in any other case they may change into confused. Let us return to reinforcement. Reinforcement is both positive or negative. Water is a negative reinforcement for a cat or kitten because they sometimes despise being wet. Some constructive reinforcement may be hugs or absolutely body petting, treats, or play time.

To coach your kitty to come back to your name is to repeat their title while they're taking a look at you. Look them in the eye when you are using a pleasant tone of voice. Another method to name your cat is to have one other sound, like snapping fingers, or clicking noises along with your tongue. These sometimes acquire the attention of your cat or kitten so that they be taught to return if you call.

Litter field training is maybe the easiest a part of having a kitty in your life. It's best to keep them confined to at least one room, the room you'll have the litter field in to train them. They'll study by you placing them within the box and permitting them to familiarize themselves with the smell. Cats by nature perceive the texture of litter associating it with dirt. You may have to choose them up when they first start to go if they don't understand the litter field and place them inside. Occasionally a cat does not just like the litter you use. They show their displeasure through the use of the floor. This can be a time to attempt something new. Most female adult cats will practice their kittens so it's important they don't depart their mother's care to quickly. Food works in much the identical way. Once you show them the place their food bowls are they are going to continue to go there. Cats are creatures of habit.

Habits are how you'll train your kitty to convey you toys. Some cats will simply meow once they need to play and casually bat their toy, nonetheless if you give them optimistic reinforcement every time they carry a toy mouse or stuffed toy they'll continue to carry the toy without the reinforcement of a treat. For an example my kitty, Spooky, is two. She brings me a stuffed animal each afternoon or night when she wants to play. She lays it down close to the end of my sofa and meows until I acknowledge the nice deed and start to play with her.

Cats are trainable, perhaps to not the degree; a canine is trainable with voice commands, however they you can succeed in training them in some ways. Cats will enliven any house and given numerous positive reinforcement, they can be simply as a lot enjoyable if not more fun than different pets. Especially when they offer you comfort by stepping on to your lap kneading and purring. These moments can take away a nasty day at work within a number of seconds.

All ferrets are typically grouped according to their coloring. Ferret colors are varied based on the color of the guard-hairs and undercoat.

Black ferret guard-hairs are black while his undercoat is either white or has a light golden tone to it. His eyes are black or as close to black as possible. The cute little ferret nose is also black. On occasion, the nose of the black ferret will be a speckled black.

Be sure not to confuse the black ferret, described above with the Black Sable. The black sable may appear to be black, but upon closer examination, you will realize that he is actually a very dark brown. He has a white or cream colored undercoat. His eyes are also a very deep dark brown, almost black. This ferret's nose is also black. But you may encounter some black sable ferrets with a marbled, blackish brown nose.

Chocolate. This ferret is described as chocolate because his fur is that delicious shade of brown. The coloring is similar to the black sable. The undercoat has either a golden cast or its white. Most chocolate ferrets have brown eyes, but you may see one here and there who has dark burgundy eyes. The nose is usually a light pink. Although, on occasion, may have a beige or brick colored nose.

Champagne. Think diluted chocolate. This particular ferret can be light to medium tan and as dark as a "diluted chocolate" say the experts. The undercoat can be white to cream colored. The eyes can range from a light color to a dark burgundy. The nose is usually pink.

Cinnamon. The coat is an beautiful shade of light reddish brown. The undercoat is either white or has a golden cast to it. The eyes of this little guy are light to medium burgundy. The nose is usually pink although, you may sometimes find this variety of ferret to have a nose as dark as beige with a brick colored "T" outline. Many experts will tell you that the true red cinnamon ferrets do not even exist today!

Albino. The albino ferret, just like an albino in any other species, lacks any pigment in his skin or his eyes. This type of ferret may range from a creamy white to a snow-white color both on the guard-hairs themselves as well as the undercoat. Every albino also has light to medium pink eyes. And every albino ferret has a pink nose.

DEW -- Dark-eyed white. This ferret, in many ways, resembles the albino. He has either a white or cream colored coat and a pink nose. But instead of the pink eyes of the albino ferret, this one has dark burgundy eyes. The DEW pattern of this animal possesses 10 percent -- and in some cases less -- guard-hairs in the form of a stripe, colored tail spots or sprinkled throughout the coat itself. Unfortunately, this variety tends to be prone to deafness, a result of the Woardensburg Syndrome. This is the same syndrome which causes deafness in white long-haired cats with at least one blue eye.

Have you read Matthew 6:26? It says, "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"

Many Christians are familiar with this scripture in which Jesus talks about the heavenly Father feeding birds. Yet, some have misapplied the lesson. What is the lesson in Matthew 6:26?

The context of what Jesus was talking about in the Gospel of Matthew concerned not getting mentally distracted about the physical things that we need. When he spoke of the Father feeding the birds, he also mentioned a couple of other comparisons as well to make the point that we don't have to be anxious, but rather, we can trust in our heavenly Father to supply.

He said that being anxious or mentally distracted would not increase our physical height. He said to consider the lilies of the field and how God arrays the grass of the field with their glory. He went on to tell us that our heavenly Father knows the things that we need; we should seek Him first and all else would be added.

It's a great lesson about how to handle anxiety over the everyday things that we need in life, like food, drink, and clothing. In our present economy, there are people who are anxious about daily necessities. This teaching helps us to deal with that kind of stress.

Over the years I have heard people making reference to Matthew 6, especially the part about our heavenly Father feeding the birds. They enjoy how Jesus obviously pointed out that we are much better than birds. And, so they conclude that the Father will just have to feed them too, like He does the birds.

Have you ever considered how the Father feeds the birds? Does He get up very early, and in a very large bucket, gather as many worms as He can? And then, does He go to every bird on earth, open its beak, and toss in a worm?

That sounds silly, doesn't it? It sounds about as silly as some people who say things like, "Well Jesus said that I'm better than a bird, so the heavenly Father just has to do something. He has to take care of me; He's just got to do something."

Jesus said to behold, or consider the fowls of the air. He then pointed out the obvious, that they do not sow seed in a field, and do not reap in the field. We all know that there are no bird barns for food storage, right?

Then, after explaining the obvious, he told us that our heavenly Father feeds them. So, again, how does the Father feed them? Their provision is out there; it is called the food chain.

God is not going to bring a worm or seed to every bird, open their beak and feed them. Nor is He going to bring every bird to the food supply. He has provided it, but it is up to the birds to go and get it.

Jesus told us that the Father already knows we have needs. The context, complete with very clear illustrations, was to not get mentally distracted or stressed out about those things. He wanted us to know, we are better than a bird in God's eyes!

Some years later, the Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians to remind them that God would supply all their need. He wrote to the Corinthians to tell them that God was able to make all grace abound so that they would have sufficiency in all things. And to the Ephesians he wrote that God was able to do exceeding abundantly above all they could ask or think.

If we then are better than the birds, and, the Father has abundantly supplied for them, then He surely must have supplied for us. Numerous verses in the New Testament clearly indicate that. But, just like the birds, we need to go out and get it.

Following the lesson that Jesus taught, we are not stressed out because we know that our heavenly Father has already supplied. We keep Him first in our lives. And then we have our eyes open, expecting to see His supply for us.

How much more confidence do we have, considering that He has supplied plenty for the birds and that we are so much better than birds? How much greater is our expectation when we read verses in the New Testament of His abundant supply for us? And, how joyful and thankful we are when we actively go out get that which we need, which He has supplied.

Just as our heavenly Father feeds the birds, He feeds us too, by providing us an abundant supply.

Do we really need to supplement our modern complete horse and pony feeds with all these 'extras'?

When we take into consideration that every animal is an individual, health wise, genetic wise, environment wise and has different requirements. - The answer is most probably yes!

As for remedial animal supplements for specific complaints like calming, temperament, itchy skin issues etc, the first thing to consider is mineral deficiencies- ensure the horse is getting what it needs nutritionally, before trying herbal or nutraceutical products produced to sort the temperament or skin. A simple blood test performed by your vet can certainly help. Often if feeding is addressed, some of the symptoms you are experiencing may desist. Combine this with management and exercise, if the issue is still there, it may be time to reach for the specific remedial product.

In our experience the simpler the feeding the more successful it is for the horses health. Plenty of roughage for the hind gut with high energy foods for the small intestine if participating in equine sports. A combination of unmolassed sugar beet with lucerne /alfalfa has been successful for my broodmares and foals and show jumpers, adding crushed oats for additional energy if required. When sugar is extracted from beet pulp, which is then soaked ready for feeding, a very useful fibre feed remains which is highly digestible and holds a considerable amount of water- when you take into consideration a horses basic feed in the wild is grass and leaves they would naturally receive this high water content.

The benefit of being unmolassed horse feed is the lack of sugar content so as not to affect the temperament by raising blood sugar levels. The beet pulp will increase in volume five or six times when soaked offering a large moist feed. Great stuff for sports horses in prolonged work, helping maintain hydration. The lucerne / alfalfa nuts can be added to the beet 2 parts sugar beet 1 part grass nuts. I add in some cider vinegar and a variety of oils linseed oil for the youngsters as it helps to build healthy bones, Soya Oil for competing horses and ponies for energy and stamina and Cod liver oil for essential omegas. As there is plenty of quantity to eat our horses are content and relaxed.

Let's look at some basic herbs & their uses
Seaweed contains all the important minerals and more calcium, potassium, phosphorous, sulphur, copper, iron, magnesium, selenium, zinc, vits a,b,c,d,e, amino acids lysine, methionine, tryptophan amongst others, add Rosehips to this essential natural additive and you have a very good "Farriers Aid "that won't cost you a lot unlike a lot of well marketed products - Rosehips contain the very important B-complex vitamin biotin for hooves and Vit C for the immune system.

Garlic blood cleansing, respiratory aid, anti viral, worming support, anti fly-use ours is pure, there is not enough in commercial feeds for medicinal effect- add as an extra granules/powder/grains.

Fenugreek seed -conditioning herb great for building top line and muscle - not just fat! Combines well with garlic.

Mint-antacid/flatulence-appetiser good for cribbers and windsuckers.

Chamomile flowers - yellow flowers grow around gateways in the summer- A gentle relaxing calmer.

Rosehips - Vitamin C / biotin / immune-with seaweed.

Milk thistle - regenerates liver cells.

Meadowsweet -herb-pick me up/aspirin/circulatory/digestive & urinary systems, great for oldies

Devil's claw -anti-inflammatory.

Agnus Castus - hormonal herb-history

Echinacea-immune system stimulant for horse nutrition

NaturaGleam a product from the NaturaHorse range is a mix of linseed, garlic, mint fenugreek & seaweed and rosehips providing all the nutrients a horse or pony would need. NaturaGleam sport has the addition of brewer's yeast. Compared to well known Feed Balancers- Blue chip, Equilibria and Top Spec which are glorified brewer's yeast + fortified vitamins the unfortunate fact is you pay for the packaging /marketing and advertising- rather than the contents of these very good products. If you do a price comparison of one month's supply of NaturaGleam and your feed balancer you could save enough to buy that show jacket or latest designer outfit.

Some daily feed enhancers & nutraceuticals
Cider vinegar - Blood Cleansing an all round horse health booster great for arthritics.

Brewers yeast -contains all the important 'B' vitamins and is a great calmer of the digestive system. - Good for poor doers- who worry their weight off.

Horse Feeding Oils
Soya Oil - the best for horses weight, condition of the coat and sustained energy without getting silly.

Linseed Oil - great for horses bones

Cod Liver Oil - contains essential omega amino acids, ideal for your horse's health

On the subject of movement!
This is a vast subject that I will simplify as much as possible www.naturahorse.co.uk has lots more information on the subject. The opportunities are vast for manufacturer to make lots of money out of horse owners.
Like calmers, you can step into a mine field of choices and many people new to the need to support their pony or horses joints just go for what is advertised and marketed best - however as you may be about to discover, although they indeed do have a good effect, a lot of the hard earned horse owner's money can be spent unnecessarily!

Somebody go into a shop and asks for the best possible joint type supplement for a horse or pony that is little bit stiff, to "he's getting on a bit", to, to serious arthritis, navicular, laminitis, degenerative joint disease or Pedal Ostitis. - These are the variants that come under the movement banner!

Homeopathic remedies such as rhus tox cost very little and if you select the correct one can be 'magical' in its results. Possibly a bit fiddly for professional use where many animals are involved, however can be perfect for the Shetland in the garden. Daily feeding of a few pilules in a small titbit can be very therapeutic for both the equine and the owner alike.

Meadowsweet herb - a chemical copy of this and willow bark made up our modern day aspirin. - has the effect of giving your stiff horse an aspirin a day. This is an extremely underused but wonderful herb that could help many a horse who just gets a bit stiff. Super to feed your 'golden oldie' and will leave a bit of cash left in the bank for a rainy day. - Average cost less than £10 per month.

Devils claw which has anti inflammatory properties, much like an Ibuprofen tablet to us, but of course totally natural.

MSM -organic sulphur - required in all living creatures to mend- very good for general movement / tendon ligaments / muscle injuries.

Glucosamine-building block of cartilage- joint problems- try using this on its own or with msm as an alternative to commercially marketed joint products. NaturaFlex is well worth considering a combination of the two with added manganese ascorbite to aid absorption.

Calming
If you have an excitable horse or pony that you need to calm, and feeding has been covered, the next stage requires a little effort, homework, common sense and possibly a little trial and error. After suppleness, this is the next most common issue with equines. First establish whether they are worrying Wilma or moody madam/guy.-hormones or if it is in their general make-up. We all like to think we know our horse's personalities; however a lot of people when asked this have to think very hard!

PMT- in us girls is very similar to how lots of horse's feel - male and females consider Agnus Castus. For the naturally nervous / flighty or just plain lunatic there are several good choices. Again establish whether you are dealing with a short term problem- first outdoor show/ new environment/ just for the dressage or all day every day! Shorter problems can often be alleviated by some excellent homeopathic remedies. Chamomile flowers are sweet smelling little yellow flowers which you often see growing in the field are a great natural calmer, Hops can be useful too.

Did you know that your goldfish can live for over 10 years? Under the right conditions he can live even longer but most never make it past the first year! If you want your goldfish to live long and healthy lives, youve got to provide the proper environment.

Its a common misconception that a goldfish can live in a tiny bowl. In order for him to survive for any length of time, youll need to do frequent water changes and cleanings of the bowl thats a lot of work and living in a bowl isnt much fun so its best to keep your fish in a regular tank with a proper filtration system.

The size of your tank depends on how many goldfish you want to keep in it. A good rule of thumb is to allocate about 7 gallons of water per fish, so if you want 5 goldfish a 35 gallon tank is recommended. Its better to keep fish in a long tank that has plenty of surface to air space as goldfish like to have a lot of oxygen in their water. A tall hexagon shaped tank wont be the best tank for these fish.

Goldfish like their water to be a little on the cool side between 65 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit so in most cases a heater is not necessary. You should, however have a thermometer in the tank and take the appropriate measures if the temperature gets above 72 degrees as higher temperatures can make your fish more susceptible to disease. Bear in mind that most other tropical fish like their water on the warm side, so you will have to be careful what fish you put in the tank with your goldfish.

Provide the goldfish tank with a filtration system that is appropriate for the size of the tank. If you are keeping the fancy tailed goldfish, dont use a system that will provide too much current as this can make it difficult for them to swim around. Youll also want to provide periodic water changes as you should with any tank.

One of the main reasons that fish become sick is due to poor water quality. To keep your goldfish healthy, make sure you provide the filtration and water changes but also be careful about overcrowding and overfeeding. Too many fish or too much decaying food and waste will cause the water in your tank to become toxic to your fish.

Keeping goldfish can be a wonderful hobby and with minimal work, you can get a tank up and keep it running with healthy fish.

There are many various kinds of pets that people are able to keep inside of their house. Some people get so they can have a companion that they are able to cuddle with when they are living on their own. But there are other people who favor something that is simple to take care of and is mainly for decoration - like fish.

Aquariums are big fish tanks that can be very small to handle one or two fish or so big that you may be able to fit in almost seven or eight distinct kinds of fish. There are two contrasting kinds of aquariums - fresh water and saltwater. If you are wishing to have the strange species of fish and coral then you should invest in a saltwater aquarium.

Besides learning how to filter the water and how to clean the tank you also must understand how you are able to properly feed the fish. Because they are saltwater type of fish they require distinct food and must be fed a distinct way. This can serve them to grow and stay alive or at least till one of the larger fish chooses that they want to have a snack.

When you purchase the individual fish you should ask what types of food they consume and how much. The predator kind of fish ordinarily consume meat in large amounts while a few others might prefer to consume algae. Purchase the correct kind of food and the amount that will last you for a long time.

Particular fish are more finicky than others and will only eat a specified kind. You might need to experiment with them and consider their demeanor and which one they like the most. When you feeding saltwater fish you should only give them enough to grant them to eat it all in five minutes. The food that is not consumed will break down and dirty up the water.

Tropical Fish

Tropical fish are pets like other pets and you have to know what you're doing and I will try to help you with it.
First of all you have to buy a tank. Look for a tank that is big enough to store the fish you want
(keep note that some fish need bigger tanks as they need more place so do your homework !)
I'd suggest to go for a bigger tank cause having some extra room is a good idea.

When you're in the store make shure to take some extra equipment with you cause you'll need it.
I suggest getting:

The heater is the most important part of a tropical tank. For most tropical fish, 25Cis a good average.
4 watts per gallon is ok, buteach heater will state the size aquaria it accommodate for.
For the larger aquaria, it is often best to have two smaller heaters for a couple of reasons, one because should one break,
u still have one to keep your tank going until u can replace it, and two should you have 1 big heater, and the thermostat got stuck on, it would raise the temp of the tank far more and in less time than a smaller one would.
All heaters now have a built in thermostat which turns the heater on and off when needed to keep the tank at a stable temperature, the heater should never be un-plugged.

Filter.
Best to check if the filter fits your tank. this is very important !.The size of the filter depends upon 3 factors :
- tank size
- # fish
- plants
There are lots of different types of filters : internal filter, external filter, gravel filter and box filters
(I advise to skip this one cause they are for small tanks).

The gravel is mainly for aesthetic purposes, but it also is vital if you are keeping live plants as they need a substrate of some sort to anchor them selves down with.
If you have a planted tank, then 2-3inches of gravel is advised, but if u have an unplanted tank, then u may use

The best time of the year for riding is here! It's time to hitch up the trailer and head out for a trail ride, show, rodeo or other fun destination with your horse. Here are a few helpful reminders to keep you and your horses safe as you travel.

1.	Inspect your trailer before loading, making sure the tires have adequate air pressure and tread, that the floorboards have no weak or broken places, and that the emergency tools are complete with spare tire, jack, fire extinguisher, and caution signs.

2.	If you're traveling for many hours, you will want to have hay bags for your horses, and offer water every hour or so when you stop. It is not recommended to unload horses at roadside stops. Keeping them loaded will lessen the chance of them spooking or running loose. Just let them stand in the trailer for half an hour to rest awhile before continuing on a long trip.

3.	Research has shown a lower heart rate in horses that travel facing the rear of the trailer, and leaving them untied is usually more comfortable for them as well. If you must tie them, make sure the lead is long enough so they can lower their heads to rest and clear their air passages by snorting.

4.	Add rubber matting, sand or wood shavings to the trailer floor. This reduces the stress on your horse from scrambling to stand still on slippery flooring. It also cuts down on the amount of vibration through the floor, which further reduces the stress of the horse.

5.	Do not feed grain to horses on long trips; it increases their chances of dehydration and colic.

6.	Make sure the trailer is well ventilated and the inside temperature is not extremely hot or cold.

7.	Use reflective material on the back of your trailer in case you lose trailer lighting. This will help others see you even if you have an electrical failure.

8.	When pulling a trailer carrying horses, the number one rule is "think ahead". Drive carefully; make slow turns, gradual stops and accelerations. Allow extra stopping distance between you and the vehicle ahead. Avoid driving into small spaces or areas that will require backing up. If you do have to back the trailer, it is always best to have a person outside the vehicle watching at the rear or corners where you may hit something.

9.	Even if it means driving on a flat tire and possibly ruining a good wheel, never stop on the side of the highway or an unsafe area if there are any other options. While a wheel can be replaced, stopping on the shoulder can risk the lives and limbs of you, your horse and any emergency worker that stops to help.

10.Lastly, it is a good idea to have a Travel Kit in your horse trailer. A Travel Kit should have most, if not all, of the following items:

-	current health papers and negative Coggins tests for each horse
-	fire extinguisher
-	equine first aid kit
-	extra halters and lead ropes
-	sharp knife
-	wire cutters
-	jumper cables
-	flashlights and batteries
-	duct tape
-	cell phone and contact info for your veterinarian

There are a few more things to remember about horse trailer safety once you reach your destination, such as never tying a horse to an unhitched trailer. The horse could spook and actually move the trailer, causing injuries. When tying a horse to a trailer, leave only about an arm's length of lead rope between the two. The most common accidents involving trailers and horses result from tying horses long enough to allow them to graze; the horse gets tangled in the rope and then panicking.

When feeding from hay nets, make sure you hang them about eye level for the horse; hanging them low could result in the horse catching a hoof in them. It is also unsafe to leave halters tied to the trailer hanging low enough to catch a horse's hoof.

Following these tips and using a little bit of common sense will help you and your horse enjoy several happy years together!Kerrie Tischer is the owner of Livery Stable. If you're in the market to sell or buy a horse, this is the place to start.

If you want a reputable dealer its best not pick one out of the classifieds. As with everything, if the breeder really is top quality then they will have no reason to be advertising in the classifieds. Some breeders have puppies booked years in advance. Another reason you don't want to find someone in the newspaper is they offer no guarantees. Usually forty-eight hours is all you get and if something happens to that puppy six months from now most will just say it's not their problem. Most reputable breeders will not only give you a year guarantee or more but they will also give you lifetime support.

Another sign of a good breeder is they involved in some rescue of the type they breed. Breeders will usually look to help their breed. Also notice if they will take a puppy back if for some reason the buyer can't take care of it. Most will not refund any money but at least they care enough about the puppy they've bred and will always have a home to come to.

The most obvious clues about the quality of the breeder is by looking at the puppies themselves. Puppies are a product of their upbringing and a healthy puppy will have a pleasant temperament as well as a healthy look. This means no runny noses, clear eyes and, of course a wagging tail. If you are buying over the internet see if the breeder can send you a video of your puppy.

The environment in which the puppies are kept will also tell you a lot about the standard of the breeder. If the environment is clean and the puppies have space then it is more likely that the breeder is a good one.

It's a good idea to talk and find out about your intended breeder before seeing the puppies. See if they have children and are involve in social activities. Most Puppy millers wouldn't have time for this. Often once you see them you can be much easier to convince - because you have been convinced by those big eyes! Ask to see the dog's parents and try to assess their demeanor. Stay away from dogs that seem unusually fearful or aggressive.

You should already know quite a bit about the breed you are interested in. Ask your breeder any questions you might have left. Don't forget to ask about chronic conditions and special care. After all, this is their passion and many have spent years learning about their chosen breed and living with them! If a breeder is good then they will be just as concerned about figuring out if you are going to be a good dog owner. A good breeder cares a great deal about the puppies and the homes they are sent out into.

For most good breeders, the main goal is not to make money. In recent years however finding a puppy on the internet has become popular. It's a little harder to find a good breeder on the internet but every tip I have given here will still help you. You may not personally be able to go to see where the dogs are raised however you can tell a lot by a conversation. Just by talking to people you can tell if they are educated or not and they still should be able to tell you about the breed (s) they breed.

Now that you know what to look for there are some things you should avoid at all costs.
Any puppy that comes from a backyard or puppy mill can be a dangerous buy. A backyard breeder will know little about the breed standards. Often they don't maintain puppy's health properly. Backyard breeders and puppy millers will sell the puppies often at six weeks of age because they have just got too many; having to move them out for the next litter.

Puppy mills produce large amounts of puppies often in horrible conditions. There isn't appropriate medical care and more often than not, the puppies are not fed well. Puppy mills often sell directly to pet stores. For this reason it is best to avoid puppies bought from pet stores. Often the puppies are separated from their parents at much too young an age, often as early as 4-5 weeks old as well as the other problems of lack of healthcare, love and attention.

When choosing a breeder look find out how many breeds they breed. Usually two or three different breed types is what seems to be the standard. However this is not the case any longer. If a breeder breeds more then this most likely the person started out with one. Find out when they started out with that one and you can find out a lot by how it progressed. Judging by the conversation on the phone with them you can usually tell their level of knowledge. If it's just a puppy and they don't know anything then that's a clear sign to move on.

Most reputable breeders will not let there puppies go before they turn eight weeks of age or more depending on the breed. Most puppies are not completely weaned and self sufficient any younger then that. This varies among the breeds. Most breeders will talk about the there age, when they let them go and also about the transition from one home to the next before selling the puppy.

There is so much more that could be said about choosing a good breeder however the space here does not permit it. If you will just follow these few simple steps you will have already beat the odds of finding a good puppy. It goes both ways, not only do you the buyer wants a happy puppy but the breeder also wants you to have a happy and healthy puppy for the years to come.

Living with an aggressive iguana can be a miserable experience. There are many reasons why your lizard may be overly aggressive towards you. This article will discuss some of the most common reasons.

Introduction

Many new owners bring their new iguana home and find that their new exotic pet is very aggressive towards them. You shouldn't be surprised if this happens because this is normal behavior. Iguanas need time to get used to their new surroundings. If you provide him with plenty of food and water, he should start behaving himself after a week or two.

Breeding

One of the most common reasons that your iguana is aggressive is because it's breeding season. Virtually all males start behaving like that at a certain time of the year. This even happens when your iguana is normally docile the rest of the year.

Stress

Another reason that your iguana may be aggressive is because he's stressed. This can occur for a number of reasons. Loud noises, other pets, and improper housing can all stress your iguana out. To help reduce this, you should provide him with a hiding box in his enclosure. This will provide the perfect place for him to relax whenever he gets stress.

Temperature

One of the most important aspects of caring for iguanas is providing them with proper temperatures. They need two distinct areas in their enclosure that are warmer and cooler. This allows them to regulate their body temperature. If there is just one temperature in the enclosure, your iguana will probably start acting aggressively. Providing improper temperature settings will also lead to various health problems.

Diet

Iguanas may also become aggressive if you don't feed them properly. They need nutrition as well as foods that provide the proper calcium to phosphorus ratio. Failure to do so will prevent your iguana from digesting his food properly which leads to stress and aggression.

As an owner, there are probably many more things you need to learn about proper green iguana care. Fortunately for you, green-iguana-care.com provides everything you need. So, stop by today to start learning about a wide range of topics like iguana feeding.

Pet health insurance is very important for pet owners because it will always ensure that they will have financial backup if their pet becomes ill or gets into an accident. Although there are many advantages of pet health insurance, it is wise to carefully research your choice of pet health insurance companies.

To help you choose the best pet health insurance there is, here are some myths and misconceptions that you should keep in mind.

Myth # 1: "Your pet does not need health insurance." Like people, you will never know when you pet would get sick or get hurt. The main reason why there is a pet insurance policy is because there are times when your pet would need health care and you are not prepared for it. Vet care costs a whole lot of money and your pet also needs routine vet care. If you have a pet health insurance policy you don't need to choose between your pet's health and your money when you have a little problem with financial status. You may think you don't need it today but the truth is everybody needs to make sure that their pets are covered with a good pet health insurance policy.

Myth # 2: "There are a limited number of vets that are accredited by pet health insurance policies." Unlike some human health insurance policies where there are just some places and doctors that accept patients because of the limited accreditation, pet health insurance policies have more coverage when it comes to the vet of the owner's choice.

Myth # 3: "You can't include vaccinations, dental cleanings and check ups." There are some pet health insurance comprehensive policies that include wellness care and preventive care in their coverage so it is best that you choose those types.

Misconception # 1: "It will cost a fortune to get a pet health insurance policy." Basic accident policies are very affordable - and the most affordable health care policies cost fewer than 10 dollars a month. You wouldn't want to take the risk with any of your other family members right? And like it or not, your pets are (for most of us) a true family member. The money that we spend on their food, the shelter that they have, the toys and the other things that we buy for them is part of our investment in them as a family member. Throwing it all away because our pets are not insured is a sure waste. Other pet insurance policies may cost a little more but the policies become more expensive because of their comprehensiveness and inclusions. Think over what policy best fits your pet and remember that peace of mind can be bought!

Misconception # 2 "It's a drag to apply for one." There are a lot of online references pertaining to pet health insurance and how to apply for it. If a pet owner wants to apply their pet for a policy they can get all the help they need from a lot of sources and people. The best companies will provide lots of help at the website too. If you are a pet owner and you need first hand information you can always ask your vet.

Misconception # 3: "Pet health insurance policies are complicated." If there is any health policy in the world that is easy to understand - that's a pet policy. Unlike a human policy where there is a sub clause for dependents legal claimers etc, pet health insurance policies are actually simplified for the owner's better understanding.
